The instrument was developed from a 1973 service manual and repair notes from the period.
Its physical parameters were refined alongside listening impressions gathered in eight languages: the documents explain how the instrument works, while the listening work keeps the result connected to the sound people recognize.
The spring reverb took two years to develop. Its movement and distortion behave nonlinearly, beyond what an ordinary impulse response can reproduce.
